Cape Town - South Africa



Fast becoming one of the most popular holiday destinations, Cape Town boasts some fantastic beaches and world class restaurants. There is something for everyone in this modern city, whether you are looking for extreme sports such as helicopter rides, surfing, shark diving etc, or just wanting to unwind and relax on one of the many white beaches, followed by lunch in one of the trendy, beachside cafes in places such as Camps Bay. You can visit the exclusive Victoria and Alfred Waterfront where you'll find live jazz bands, numerous restaurants and shops that sell gifts, souvenirs and the famous South African mined diamonds, as well as a visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium, which is a must for all ages. Take a trip on the Wine Route, tasting the finest of South African wines or even a journey along the Garden Route, stopping at Hermanus for whale watching. 'Shop the world' in the designer boutiques at Canal Walk the enjoy the afternoon at Ratanga Junction theme park. The choice is endless and being just one hour time difference from the UK means no jet lag. After a few hours sleep on a night flight, you can enjoy everyday to it's fullest!
Victoria & Alfred Waterfront
The V&A Waterfront has become one of South Africa's most visited destinations. The large shopping mall is full of international shops, jewellery stores and gift shops. The terraces offer a variety of fantastic restaurants all looking out over the marina with views to Table Mountain, and when planning excursions this is the place to do it. Along the pier there are many establishments offering any type of excursion you can think of. From boat trips, safaris and city tours, to helicopter trips, bungee jumping and diving with the great white sharks. You can stroll through the indoor arts and crafts market, visit the Two Oceans Aquarium or just relax and enjoy the the performances of the local entertainers and live musicians.



Blouberg Beach
The Blouberg area of Cape Town is very popular for family holidays and the sports enthusiasts alike. This town has some of the best waves for surfing and a huge beach with a postcard view of Table Mountain. On clear evenings you'll see the beach start to get busy as its the ideal place for sundowners. Along the beach front there are numerous modern bars and restaurants for all ages with facilities for the kidz. You've got Jimmy's Killer Prawns and the Ocean Basket if you are sea food lovers, Primi Blue for the pasta fans, the Grill for the best steaks around, and all at unbelievably good value.
Boulders Beach
A must to visit for the whole family! Boulders Beach is approximately 1 hours drive from Cape Town to the east Cape Peninsula, on the shores of False Bay close to Simon's Town which is a pretty little Colonial village dating Back to the 1600's. The Penguins started to arrive in the early 80's and since then a colony of over 2000 has grown. The water here is a lot warmer than the Atlantic side and the Penguins are very comfortable in this environment. This is the only place in the world where you can swim with the penguins in their natural environment. The area has now been taken over by Cape Peninsula National Park protecting the birds and there breading grounds.
Clifton / Camps Bay
Playground of the rich and famous, the Atlantic seaboard in is well known for it's beautiful white sandy beaches, definitely the hot spot for the beach lover. Clifton has 4 different beaches to choose from sheltered from the wind with it's beautiful rock formations, overlooked only by scattered luxury villas. 10 more minutes along the coast you arrive in Camps Bay, classy yet casual this little village is a place not to miss. The restaurants are world class, the bars are modern and trendy and the streets and beaches are immaculate and clean. Relaxing with a bottle of South African wine eating locally picked Oysters and looking out over the Atlantic sea, it would not be uncommon to sea a Whale passing by jeting out spray.
Helicopter Trips
Helicopter trips are very popular in Cape Town, there are a range of size's depending on how many in your group. The standard trips are: The Atlantic (20 mins) taking you along Atlantic seaboard and over the majestic Twelve Apostles. The Two Oceans (30 mins) which heads out to Hout Bay, along the stretches of Chapmans Peak. Cape Point (60 mins) flying over the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and back over Simon's Town towards the lush Constantia Valley. But the ultimate has to be the 'Huey' a genuine Vietnam combat helicopter, with the doors completely taken off you fly a simulated combat mission, over the hills, sand dunes & beaches of the Westcoast. Total adrenalin rush!

Shark Diving
Diving with the Great White Shark, what a thing to tell your friends! One of the only places in the world where you can almost guarantee to see the Great White on each trip. Sightings of the sharks are predominately in Gaans Bay, off Dyer Island. The main reason for this is that Dyer Island is home to over 50.000 Cape Fur Seals, the Great Whites favourite meal! On the trip you will come face to face with one of the worlds most feared predators. As the sharks are surface feeders you get some spectacular action from the safety of the boat some times too close for comfort. For the brave, you can don a wetsuit and climb into the cage, as you descend below water level try to keep that eerie Jaws music out of your head!
Safari
whilst on holiday in Cape Town you can get to see the 'Big 5' in less than a 2 hour drive from the City. The Aguila private game reserve has over the years reintroduced wildlife back into the Cape region. Daily game drives take place after a welcome cocktail and breakfast you head off in 4x4 vehicles through the reserve passing free roaming large herds of game, Giraffe and Hippo. Also Elephant, lion, buffalo, Rhino and the rare mountain Leopard. On return to the lodge a buffet lunch will be prepared in the African Boma Restaurant. After lunch you are welcome to relax by the salt water swimming pool, use the bar and lounges or take a look at the local crafts in the Curio shop.
